engAGE Travis County would like to thank everyone who helped make our MLK Day of Service such a powerful and meaningful experience for our community. Your presence, participation, and support truly embodied the spirit of service and unity we gathered to honor.
We would like to extend our deepest thanks to the historical presenters with the Buffalo Soldiers, led by President Selton Williams, for bringing “living history” to life. Your presentation was both moving and educational, and served as a powerful reminder of the strength, sacrifice, and legacy that continues to shape our nation.
Thank you to our keynote speaker, Rev. Roy Jones, for your inspiring and grounding words. You so beautifully captured the heart of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision, one rooted in celebrating ourselves, justice, and community unity.
To our incredible vocalists, Largressa Munnerlyn and Deborah Duncan, thank you for sharing your angelic gifts so generously. Your voices uplifted the room and touched hearts in a way that only music can.
We would also like to give special recognition to our AMAZING VOLUNTEERS! Thank you to everyone who assisted with setup, registration, the food drive, and food service. A heartfelt thank-you to our Foster Grandparents group, who did an outstanding job—this event truly would not have been possible without their help. To every volunteer who stepped in wherever help was needed, your dedication and teamwork did not go unnoticed.
Last but certainly not least, thank you to our MC, Johnny, and to Justin with Conley Guerrero for collaborating with me throughout this process. We are so deeply grateful to Mallinee Smith-Diggs for her connections and continued support. BIG Thank you to the vendors that showed up.
Thank you to all 124 of you who attended, and many thanks those who donated food for the food drive; the food was donated to a local Travis County food Pantry. The house was packed with joy, warmth, and amazing energy. Your presence meant so much. We hope you enjoyed the program, and we hope to see your smiling faces again very soon.
